One Valley

One Community

One Vision for the Future

Building New Churches for the Growth of our Catholic Community through Faith, Sacrifice and Generosity.

“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” Corinthians 9:7

One Campaign, Two Churches

At the Parishes of the Valley, we are called to foster and preserve a community where all are invited, welcomed, loved and appreciated through faith, sacrifice and generosity along with God’s help and Providence.

Divine Inspiration

We are profoundly privileged to live in this valley. Mountains are a universal symbol of the nearness of God, and our backyard is a world-class mountain wilderness where we experience divine inspiration and spiritual elevation.

Through a region-wide capital campaign, we will work together to realize our vision for church buildings that mirror the beauty of our natural surroundings. As we continue this journey of faith together, we ask that you reflect on your own blessings, join us in prayer and consider how you can participate in this vital effort.

Donors

Our donors are the heart and soul of the Parishes of the Valley. Together we will work together to build the dream of a Church at St. Clare’s in Edwards, taking Mass out of the gymnasium, and a new Church at St. Mary’s to accommodate our growing Catholic community in Eagle and Gypsum. Already we have seen the power and inspiration of many to help us build. Whether you are a local parishioner or visitor to our churches you can help us build our dream.

Our Future

Our parish communities of St. Clare of Assisi, St. Patrick and St. Mary’s are the heart of our Catholic Church community. It is our responsibility to ensure they are vibrant, thriving in their mission, and announcing God’s love to the Valley. Our Eagle County population continues to grow and the need for a greater infrastructure increases.

Building new churches will help strengthen the Catholic community and identity in the valley. As we continue this journey of faith together, we ask that you reflect on your own blessings, join us in prayer and consider how you can participate in this vital effort.

St. Clare of Assisi

St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School and Parish in Edwards was founded in 2000, inspired by the vision of Cardinal James Francis Stafford who, while Archbishop of Denver, envisioned the opportunity for a Catholic education for all the Valley’s children.

St. Clare of Assisi became our patron saint as she lived in similar diverse economic circumstances to those of our Valley and she saw Jesus in all people regardless of their socioeconomic status.

St Mary’s

St. Mary’s history dates to 1911, when Masses were celebrated in the home of a parishioner and where, today, Masses at St Mary’s are celebrated in a modest church building bursting with more than 700 attendees across four Masses. Over the years the Church has been remodeled and expanded to meet the needs of the growing parish. The congregation spills out into the foyer and basement requiring closed circuit television for viewing the Mass celebration. A new St. Mary’s will bring our community together for worship.

St. Patrick’s

St Patrick’s history dates back to 1910 with Mass celebrated in Thomas Minturn’s home. A $500 gift by the Catholic Extension Society along with local funds raised helped build the 24 by 36 foot original Chapel in 1925. On July 10, 1952 St. Patrick officially became a parish after a chapel expansion. In 1990 a larger church was built to accommodate the growing congregation. St. Patrick’s is home to 450 visiting and 250 local parishioners and continues to grow year after year.

Our New Catholic Churches

For more than 20 years, The Parishes of the Valley have been “A Place to Belong” We are a vibrant community of faith and worship, and we look forward to a future of serving the needs of our diverse and growing community to build the Body of Christ in the world.
